## Asana Software Engineer Interview Guide & Process
Asana builds work management software with a highly complex underlying data model (the Work Graph). They strongly emphasize engineering quality, mentorship, and type safety (TypeScript, Scala).
### 1. Recruiter Screen (30 mins)
Initial conversation about your background, career goals, and alignment with Asana's mission-driven culture.
### 2. Technical Screen (1 hour)
A practical coding session or algorithmic challenge. Asana cares deeply about clean, readable, and well-structured code.
### 3. Onsite Loop (4-5 hours)
- **App/System Design:** Designing a complex interactive UI or backend system that requires syncing large amounts of relational data.
- **Algorithms & Data Structures:** One or two rounds focusing on trees, graphs, or optimization problems.
- **Values & Behavior:** Assessing your ability to collaborate, give/receive feedback, and work with high emotional intelligence.
